The Sugar Glider is nocturnal gliding possum that is now a popular house pet. It's name is derived from it's prefered foods: sugary nectar and it's ability to glide from tree to tree. It is able to do so because, like most gliding mammals, it has a membrane that stretches from fingers to ankles. It is found in Australia, New Guinea, some Indonesian Islands, and was introduced to Tasmania.
